The majority of our plants are processed in our state of the art mist propagation unit with automated heating and irrigation. You can buy with confidence knowing that our plants have been grown locally, from our own seeds and cuttings, with experts nurturing them all the way to your garden.
Other plant material than our own is also sourced locally. We produce 99% of our plant labels, which enables us to give more information, including the relevant family and common names. This information is invaluable to students and customers.
It makes sense to ‘buy local’ and help your environment grow: healthier and cleaner.
We strive to be environmentally friendly, by collecting rainwater from our tunnels to irrigate and mist the plants. We let the birds, insects and amphibians control pests and we carry out good plant husbandry techniques to eliminate diseases.
Dean has been a professional horticulturalist for 33 years, from an apprentice to becoming a consultant. In 1999 Dean was awarded an M.I. Hort from the Institute of Horticulture, for professional services to Horticulture.

Husband and wife owners Dean and Robin strive to give each customer a unique experience when at the Nursery. Nothing is too much trouble; we want you to enjoy your visit and create a long term relationship. Every customer is valued. Traditional values and service are foremost. Dean and Robin have over 60 years experience dealing with satisfied customers between them.

We are surrounded by the Somerset Levels, with flora and fauna abundant and no noise or pollution. Just the sound of nature in a relaxed and tranquil setting.
Throughout the Nursery you will find plants that originated from all corners of the world. We owe a great debt to the Plant Hunters who were willing to risk danger and disease so that we could enrich our gardens with colour, fragrance and beauty.

Deans Blog
Dean has articles of interest both for day-to-day gardening tips and good practice to historical facts (the Plant Hunters) for those interested in more than just 'smelling the roses'. Visit his blog site, gradualy being filled with interesting items and news.
'Friends of Drayton Nurseries'
We propose to form an informal garden group for those that wish to be more actively involved. Two projects taking place at the nursery are a Kitchen Garden and a Nature Trail.
